Au Revoir Summer! Back to School!

First Day of School

Sean and Scott circa 1993?  Either kindergarten or 1st grade?

Well, it’s the last night of the summer months.  September 1st means a lot of things.  For everyone in Boston, it means they have to move into their new apartments.  Thankfully I’m staying put in Cambridge.  For kids in Marlborough, it means back to school.

For HINDSIGHT, it means that I have to move forward to a new season and a new series of shoots.  No more can I think about the dog days of Summer.  I need to focus on transitioning into my favorite of season.  Autumn.  I have a shoot planned for the beginning of September and then another at the end of October.  In between, I’ll be shooting a friend’s thesis film.  So yes, another busy few months are ahead of me.  There are calls to be made, filmstock to buy, and shots to plan, but I’m ready for it.

I’m also going to be a senior in college this year, which is sort of a big deal.  My schedule worked out nicely though.  I’ll be taking Film Editing, Alterntive Motion Picture Techniques, and then my BFA Practicum class.  Lots of production classes and hopefully less papers.  More time for HINDSIGHT!

Easter Teaser Trailer!

Friday, August 28th, 2009

The 4,000 feet of film that I shot this summer is still at the lab, but I was so desperate today to work on a trailer that I went back to some of the Easter footage from April.  Some of the shots had reflections from the matte box, so upon first viewing I was quite upset and I hadn’t watched it since.  Looking back at it today I realized that I could cut around the mistakes and I managed to make this little teaser.  It feels good to cut together the footage because I haven’t done since that first winter trailer.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little guy! The music is by Beach House.

Recent Supporters & Donor Incentives

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

The heat in Boston is unbearable and I live on a 3rd floor apartment. But I wanted to write a blog post to show my appreciation for everyone that has made HINDSIGHT possible so far. The following is a list of donors from this summer. Without them I would not have been able to shoot as many scenes as I did during these past few months!

Bert Miller, Amy Nocton, James & Linda Cherry, Sandy Morris, Dean Helm, John & Ann Tillistrand, Joanne & Kenneth Terry, Paul & Susan Shook, William & Kathleen Blake, Maureen Hanley, Jackie Fuller, Donna & Alex Ulloa, Megan Hanley, Kimberly Llerena, Thomas Hanley, Zachary Baker-Salmon, Mike Fowler, Dana Lovallo, Carol Burnham.

I also wanted to make it known that I’ve added a list of donor incentives to the support page on this site.  Just a little something to show my gratitude for the help that donors have provided.

DONOR INCENTIVES

All donors will be listed in the end credits of the film.

Businesses who donate will receive a link to their website on the support page.

Donors of $100 or more will receive a free copy of the final DVD.

Donors of $500 or more receive an Associate Producer credit.

Home Movies Have Arrived!

Home Movies to Log

When my parents came to visit two weeks ago, I graciously asked for them to bring every tape I had ever shot between middle school and the end of high school.  It turned out to be two full shoe boxes!  I plan on going through the tapes, looking for moments here and there that might be useful as scenes in Hindsight. Many of them are from the first movies I ever made, while others are simply unlabled and I’m sure show my friends and I running around in the woods testing the night-vision function on the camera.  However, I think I’ll find some good clips to manipulate digitally, and then edit into the final film.  Now I just need to find the time to sit down and watch all them!

Feature Article from Last Month

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

It took me a month to get this article up on the site because I had to have friends cut it out of the paper for me.  But I have it here now and it’s surely just as relevant as it was when it was published in July.  I’d like to thank Sarah McCoy for writing such a nice article about me!

Donate through PayPal Today!

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Thanks to the Marlborough Arts Center, donations to Hindsight can now be made online via PayPal. I always wanted to make the donation process easy, and now with a few clicks you can support the project! Please consider donating, any amount, no matter how small or large, will help me work towards of my goal of completing the project by May of 2010.

I am currently working towards reaching my goal for summer fundraising. I have lots and lots of film that I haven’t had the chance to see yet because of lack of funds. With your help, I can get the film I shot in Marlborough this summer processed and transferred. To reward your gratitude, I’ll release lots of trailers and clips from all the locations that I filmed. I can’t wait to see what I shot way back on Memorial Day weekend!

Please visit the support page of this website to learn more about how to donate via PayPal.
